Morning and afternoon tea was served canapé style with finger sandwiches, delicate cakes and bite sized savouries on offer. Set on the verandah of Government House, the event was attended by the Governor General Ms Quentin Bryce who continues to inspire our team at Katering, we don’t know how she does it!
Winter Warmers
Posted: May 21, 2012 Filed under: From the Kitchen | Tags: food Leave a commentWe’ve all noticed the slight chill in the air as winter fast approaches so this week we provide you with a recipe for one of our favourite winter warmers – Stephanie Alexanders lemon delicious pudding
2 lemons
60g butter
1 ½ cups castor sugar
3 eggs, separated
3 tablespoons self raising flour
1 ½ cups milk
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Zest 1 lemon and juice both. In a food processor cream butter with zest and sugar, then add egg yolks. Add flour and milk alternatively to make a smooth batter. Scrape mixture from sides of processor bowl and blend in lemon juice. Transfer to a basin. Whisk egg whites until creamy and firm and fold gently into batter. Pour batter into prepared basin. Stand basin in a baking dish and pour in hot water to come halfway up sides of basin. Bake for one hour. Allow to cool a little before serving. Best served with pouring cream.

Held at Kitchen by Mike in Roseberry, Kate was joined by many formidable personalities including Maggie Beer, Kylie Kwong, Stephanie Alexander, Christine Mansfield, Katie Quinn Davis and Simon Bryant. Each chef had their own book to launch to media and Kate was both inspired and in awe to be sitting in a room full of her mentors.
We are very excited for the release of Kate’s quintessential guide to the Australian Wedding launching Thursday 24 May. It provides a comprehensive, heartfelt and dedicated guidebook for newly engaged couples.
